7‑Eleven launched a SOUR PATCH Watermelon Slurpee inspired by social chatter but faced a key challenge: traditional demographic targeting wouldn’t reliably find the passionate Slurpee and SOUR PATCH Kids fans most likely to engage. The company needed a way to identify and reach those specific audiences on social media.
Using NetBase Audience 3D with Twitter data, 7‑Eleven identified and segmented 3 million users who had positive affinity for Slurpees, SOUR PATCH Kids, sour candies, and convenience stores, then tailored messaging for each group and ran a Promoted Tweet campaign. The targeted approach doubled engagement rates versus prior campaigns, significantly lifted total engagements, and extended campaign reach to 3 million people.
