A NetApp Case Study
Wrekin Housing Trust, one of the largest social housing providers in the West Midlands managing nearly 12,000 homes and a range of tenant services, needed a more robust, future-proofed business continuity and recovery solution. Its growing data center—hosting 50 application servers—faced rising data volumes and resource-intensive backups, and an off-site backup plan was initially uneconomic due to WAN data transfer challenges.
The trust implemented a FlexPod converged platform (Cisco UCS, Nexus, NetApp FAS and VMware) that leveraged deduplication, Snapshot incremental backups and thin replication to dramatically reduce data volumes sent off-site and enable server virtualization. The result: consolidation from 50 servers to 5, roughly 50% storage savings, lower costs and latency, centralized management and a reliable, scalable business continuity capability that meets current needs and supports future growth.
