TVB.com Originates Rapidly Growing VoD Library on NetApp

TVB.com, the digital arm of Television Broadcasts Limited, serves more than 7 million Hong Kong viewers and operates the myTV SUPER service with the territory’s largest video‑on‑demand library—over 400 TB and growing 5–10% per month (doubling roughly every nine months). Faced with unpredictable, concurrent demand for both new and archival content, TVB.com needed scalable, high‑performance storage, continuous availability, and disaster‑recovery capabilities to meet SLAs and support massive ingest, transcode, and delivery workloads.

TVB.com implemented NetApp FAS8020 systems running ONTAP with SnapMirror replication to a secondary site, providing high IOPS, nondisruptive operations, and automated synchronization. The deployment enabled thousands of concurrent ingest/transcode/delivery requests, seamless scaling and upgrades, and a hardened DR posture—delivering improved uptime and performance, the capacity to absorb rapid growth, and reliable on‑demand delivery to hundreds of thousands of devices across Hong Kong.
