A NetApp Case Study
Todd Energy, a New Zealand oil and gas company founded in 1929, manages large seismic and subsurface datasets to support operations across multiple fields. Rapid growth and acquisitions increased data volume and complexity, and an aging tape-based backup system left disaster recovery at the brink — putting mission‑critical operations at risk if downtime occurred.
Working with NetApp and partner Citrus Consulting, Todd Energy implemented a hybrid backup and DR infrastructure built on NetApp storage with SnapMirror replication and Active IQ management. The new solution cut recovery time from days to minutes, eliminated outages since deployment, reduced equipment from five racks to three (lowering footprint and energy use), simplified cloud and VMware integration, and gave the company faster, more reliable access to its data.
