The Zoological Society of London turns to NetApp & partners to support mission critical work

The Zoological Society of London (ZSL), a 19th‑century conservation charity that runs two zoos and an international research institute, needed to replace aging storage and tape‑based backup systems to support mission‑critical ticketing, membership, research and virtualised infrastructure. ZSL required more capacity, faster I/O, snapshot and replication for disaster recovery, simpler management and a modern archiving platform.

Working with S3 Consulting, ZSL deployed NetApp FAS2552HA, FAS2554HA and FAS2554 arrays integrated with Catalogic DPX to replace tape with disk‑based backup and archiving. The new platform delivered intuitive management and top‑tier support, instant recovery, replication and cloning, 46% deduplication, backup windows cut from one week to one hour, server consolidation, lower costs and a future‑proofed storage foundation.
