Case Study: Cordant Group achieves substantial cost savings and enterprise cloud storage agility with NetApp Cloud ONTAP

A NetApp Case Study

Preview of the Cordant Group Case Study

The Cordant Group turns to NetApp's Cloud ONTAP® operating system to address storage issues

The Cordant Group, a UK-based security, facilities management and recruitment firm with 192 locations, 5,200 clients and a £609m turnover, moved much of its IT to an AWS virtual private cloud to shift from capex to opex and gain scalability. After the migration it found Windows DFS limiting for managing distributed file access and needed a cloud storage approach that replicated its on‑premises environment while protecting critical SQL databases and simplifying management.

Cordant deployed NetApp Cloud ONTAP on AWS to mirror its physical storage stack, leveraging NetApp features such as OnCommand Cloud Manager, SnapManager for SQL and Snapshot copies. The result was enterprise-grade NAS/SAN support, easier web-based storage management, fast restores (under an hour), responsive support and significant cost efficiencies (estimated 40–50% savings), along with improved performance, scalability and simple backups.
