A NetApp Case Study
The Brooklyn Hospital Center, a 170-year-old nonprofit serving Brooklyn’s underserved, needed to modernize its aging data center to improve clinical workflows, stretch limited Medicaid/Medicare dollars, and create opportunities for collaboration and new revenue. Hospital leaders sought a low-risk way to consolidate siloed systems, speed data access for clinicians, and support growing partnerships and initiatives.
TBHC deployed a prevalidated VMware vSphere on FlexPod converged infrastructure (NetApp storage, Cisco UCS networking/compute, with ePlus support), converting about 100 physical servers and virtualizing roughly 80% of applications. The new platform delivered faster, more reliable access to patient records, cut operating costs, accelerated application deployments, scaled capacity for more patients and services, enabled a disaster-recovery strategy, and opened the door to monetizing IT by hosting partner systems.
