Case Study: PostFinance achieves always-on, high-performance file services and faster DevOps with NetApp MetroCluster IP and AFF all‑flash storage

A NetApp Case Study

Preview of the PostFinance Case Study

Swiss bank keeps omnipresent files going with NetApp flash and MetroCluster IP

PostFinance, a Swiss financial-services provider serving 2.7 million customers and supported by a 600‑strong IT organization, needed highly available, persistent file storage to run core and mobile banking applications, microservices, and developer shares 24/7. The bank required seamless disaster recovery across sites 100 km apart, self‑service provisioning for around 800 shares to speed DevOps, and a nondisruptive refresh to all‑flash storage without impacting operations.

PostFinance implemented NetApp AFF A400 systems with ONTAP MetroCluster IP, Snapshot, and Astra Trident to provide synchronous mirroring between Bern and Zofingen, persistent volumes to Kubernetes, and automatic provisioning. The migration moved 200 TB with no downtime, enabled hourly snapshots for fast restores, boosted performance and capacity efficiency via data reduction, simplified the storage network using IP, lowered costs, and delivered faster development cycles and continuous service availability.
