Case Study: Denver Broncos achieve faster disaster recovery and up to 25% storage reduction with NetApp

A NetApp Case Study

Preview of the Denver Broncos Case Study

Support a winning football team and enhance fan experience

The Denver Broncos, an NFL franchise with large fan engagement and mobile collaboration needs, faced rapidly growing storage and availability demands to support digital playbooks, game- and practice-video, Microsoft Exchange and SQL environments, and critical game-day systems. Their small IT team needed a high-performance, scalable storage and disaster-recovery solution that integrated with existing Cisco and VMware infrastructure without disrupting daily operations.

Working with PEAK Resources, the Broncos deployed NetApp FAS2240 systems running Data ONTAP with OnCommand management, SnapMirror/SnapVault replication, and deduplication. The solution scales from 50 TB toward 1 PB, cuts storage requirements by up to 20–25%, provides 90 days of local backups and fast cross-site recovery (replicating data 20 miles), eliminates off-site tape, and enabled reliable iPad-based PlayerLync video and playbook delivery with no impact to day-to-day operations.
