SmileShark is a Seoul-based managed service provider founded in 2019 that helps gaming companies, startups, SMBs and public-sector clients with AWS strategy, security and support. Rapid growth and a broad customer base created challenges around optimizing AWS costs, managing many customer accounts and billing, and gaining deeper visibility into customers’ AWS environments to support global expansion.
To solve this, SmileShark adopted CloudCheckr CMx (now part of Spot by NetApp) for cost allocation, Savings Plans/Reserved Instance recommendations, and detailed reporting. The platform streamlined billing and resource visibility, helping SmileShark support 150+ AWS customers and deliver dramatic savings—month-over-month reductions up to 80% and examples such as cutting a client’s bill from $300k to $100k and another from $100k to $20k—while accelerating the company’s AWS partner journey.
