Case Study: SGS achieves scalable, cost-effective storage and simplified management with NetApp

A NetApp Case Study

Preview of the SGS Case Study

SGS turns to NetApp for storage that delivers powerful scalability and simplified support

SGS, a global leader in inspection, verification, testing, and certification with over 80,000 employees and 1,650+ offices and labs, was facing end-of-life IBM storage that was running out of capacity and lacked management functionality. This constrained key business systems including a SharePoint collaboration intranet, an order-processing application, and laboratory systems for oil, gas, and chemical testing.

SGS deployed a NetApp FAS2520 on a FlexPod infrastructure, implemented by partner Concorde IT Group, with Data ONTAP, VMware support and Veeam replication, scalable to 84 drives/336TB. The new platform simplified management through automation, supports about 20 production and test VMs, improved reliability and performance, lowered costs, and provided a scalable, fail-safe foundation for future growth.
