Samaritan’s Purse Moves Data to the Frontlines of Its Humanitarian Efforts

Samaritan’s Purse is an international nonprofit that provides disaster and humanitarian relief in more than 100 countries. Rapid growth from multiple responses strained its storage and slowed applications—SQL workloads dragged into nighttime, backups conflicted with operations, and the organization needed always-on access to coordinate volunteers, donors, and time-sensitive relief efforts.

Working with ePlus, Samaritan’s Purse deployed NetApp ONTAP with FAS8040/FAS8020 systems plus features like FlexClone and SnapManager to optimize SQL and backup workflows and replicate data off-site. The migration cut a 2.5-hour SQL job to 15 minutes, delivered 100% uptime, sped donor and Operation Christmas Child tracking, simplified backups, and freed IT to focus on higher-value work.
