Reduce administrative burden, improve datacenter resilience and shorten backup windows

Svenska Fönster, a Swedish windows manufacturer of 800 employees and part of Dovista, was held back by an aging SAS hard-disk storage stack that caused production slowdowns, long backup windows, and forced IT staff to perform maintenance outside business hours; the existing setup also lacked adequate datacenter redundancy. The company needed higher performance, shorter backup windows, less administrative overhead, and greater resilience to support growth and new markets.

Working with NetApp and partner Atea, Svenska Fönster implemented a FlexPod with NetApp A300 4‑node MetroCluster (all‑flash) and integrated Veeam. The new platform delivered non‑disruptive operations, cut VM snapshot times from 5–7 hours to 5–10 minutes, improved database response from 20 ms to 1 ms, achieved about 50% space savings, provided geographic redundancy across four nodes, reduced IT overtime, and increased production reliability and capacity.
