A NetApp Case Study
Overlake Medical Center, a 349-bed acute-care hospital in Bellevue, Washington, needed faster, more reliable access to its Epic electronic medical records so clinicians could run timely reports, identify patient risks, and meet quality benchmarks. Its growing patient data and a lengthy manual refresh process were slowing analysis and risking delayed decisions at the point of care.
Working with NetApp, Overlake deployed NetApp All Flash FAS and ONTAP to automate nightly Epic data refreshes and enable nondisruptive database moves. Refresh time fell from seven hours to two, average response latency dropped from 10–18 ms to about 0.25 ms, and clinicians gained near-real-time access to patient data—improving decision speed, reducing downtime, and freeing IT to focus on strategic projects.
