PIRMIN JUNG Schweiz AG is an award‑winning engineering firm that designs timber structures using fully digital planning and more than 60 software tools. As projects, staff, and BIM/CAD workloads grew—handling up to 100 GB project files and 150 virtualized CAD clients—the existing private‑cloud platform (hosted by IT partner BWO) began showing long wait times and project startups of up to ten minutes, with unclear performance bottlenecks.

BWO and NetApp ran detailed tests, found a VMware CPU bottleneck, upgraded compute resources and deployed two NetApp AFF A250 NVMe systems, and implemented mirrored sites with SnapMirror for fast disaster recovery. The migration of 30 TB was seamless, backups and hourly Snapshot copies (SnapVault/SnapLock) plus ProLion CryptoSpike improved data resilience, and vCenter‑integrated features like Rapid Cloning sped VM provisioning—resulting in much faster project loads, minute‑scale failover, an RTO of ≤1 hour, and a scalable private cloud that supports future growth.
