A NetApp Case Study
Paradigm, a leading independent developer of software-enabled solutions for the upstream oil and gas industry with about 750 employees worldwide, faced a pressing efficiency challenge: delivering more agile, hands-on classroom training (100+ classes a year) and faster customer support. Preparing classrooms required repetitive weekend work to image PCs and copy large datasets, taking hours per room, and Paradigm needed more storage capacity to duplicate customer environments for timely troubleshooting.
Paradigm deployed NetApp FAS storage with iSCSI boot, a single “golden image,” FlexClone thin-cloning, Snapshot and SnapRestore technologies to provision virtual, writable student copies and rapidly duplicate customer datasets. The result: classroom preparation time fell by 96% (equipping three rooms in 25 minutes versus ~10 hours), instructors can test nondisruptively, support teams can quickly replicate and restore customer environments, and overall resiliency and manageability for development and enterprise applications improved.
