Orange Business Services Blazes a New Path for Growth

Orange Business Services, the B2B arm of global telecom Orange, used its world-leading data network and presence in 220 countries to pivot into cloud services when bandwidth commoditization and rising competition stalled industry revenue. Facing the need to increase the value of its offerings and hit an ambitious €500 million cloud-revenue target by 2015, the company identified storage agility, scalability, security, and nondisruptive operations as mission-critical challenges.

Orange built its Flexible Computing IaaS on NetApp storage and data-management technologies (including FAS systems, Flash Cache, and MultiStore), deploying some 35 PB of capacity to enable rapid, secure, and efficient scale-out. The result: Orange repositioned itself as a single-source IT-and-network provider, delivered measurable customer wins (for example, a 50% TCO reduction for Tiens Group), accelerated time-to-market for global customers, and created a platform for future big-data services.
