OneBeacon Protects Vital IBM FileNet P8 ECM Systems and FileNet Image Services Data with NetApp Storage

OneBeacon Insurance Group, a publicly traded specialty insurer with about 1,200 employees and U.S. headquarters in Minnetonka, relied on IBM FileNet P8 and FileNet Image Services to support claims and business processes. Its legacy storage and a discontinued multisystem synchronization solution made backups slow, complex, and risky for regulatory compliance and disaster recovery, and optical jukeboxes consumed space and management time.

OneBeacon consolidated three ECM landscapes onto NetApp Integrated Data Protection with V3140 controllers and FAS3240 systems, using Snapshot, SnapMirror, SnapRestore and Snap Creator automation to enable live, application-consistent backups and disk-based image storage. The change cut FileNet P8 backup windows from six hours to under 15 seconds, replicates image data to the DR site every 30 minutes, reduced storage needs by about 50% through deduplication, eliminated jukebox overhead, and saved tens of thousands of dollars annually while delivering 24/7 availability and improved user productivity.
