Odense Kommune, the third-largest city in Denmark with roughly 200,000 residents, was suffering from unexpected high I/O during peak hours that caused slow system operation, instability, and poor performance. Their legacy, tiered approach split primary and backup across different systems, and the municipality needed an integrated, future‑proof storage solution from a single vendor to meet growing demands.

Working with Konica Minolta, Odense deployed NetApp — including AFF8080 all‑flash arrays, FAS systems, ONTAP and OnCommand — and migrated VMs and SQL servers without downtime. The all‑flash, single‑vendor stack eliminated tiering and performance bottlenecks, delivered consistent low latency, enabled predictive management, achieved a 2:1 data reduction with associated cost savings, faster restores, and improved SLA compliance.
