Case Study: Narayana Health achieves rapid access to patient records with NetApp hybrid cloud solutions

A NetApp Case Study

Preview of the Narayana Health Case Study

Narayana Health advances care in India with rapid availability of records

Narayana Health, one of India’s largest hospital groups with 22 hospitals and more than 2.6 million patients a year, needed reliable, fast access to patient histories and diagnostic images across multiple sites and thousands of users to support clinical decisions and future AI-driven analytics. Delivering continuity of care required a centralized, high-performance records system that could be managed easily and meet compliance and disaster‑recovery needs.

Narayana built a centralized records platform (Athma) on a NetApp hybrid cloud stack—E‑Series E5700 and FAS2750 on‑premises, Cloud Volumes ONTAP and Azure NetApp Files with two replicated Azure data centers and cloud connectivity—enabling seconds‑level retrieval of medical records across 15 sites. The deployment improved availability, reliability, and manageability, simplified operations for engineers, supports DevOps and disaster recovery, and can scale to petabytes to accommodate growth and future AI/analytics.
