A NetApp Case Study
BBM Canada is a member‑owned, not‑for‑profit provider of television and radio audience measurement and analytics whose ratings data directly drives member revenue. Faced with rapidly growing volumes and the need for reliable, timely delivery and business continuity, BBM moved from siloed servers and direct‑attached storage to a virtualized private cloud to ensure responsiveness, scalability, and data protection.
Working with Root Cellar, BBM built a VMware/IBM BladeCenter private cloud on NetApp storage, enabling IaaS for developers and automated services for operations. The rollout cut provisioning from two weeks to 15 minutes, boosted storage utilization to over 70%, reduced required capacity by roughly fivefold through deduplication and thin provisioning, avoided a $1M data center expansion, and delivered uninterrupted data availability with 15‑minute DR failover—supporting faster product delivery and potential SaaS offerings.
