Case Study: MailerLite achieves fast, secure migration of 100 million files to Google Cloud with NetApp Cloud Volumes Service (XCP)

A NetApp Case Study

Preview of the MailerLite Case Study

MailerLite moves 100 million files to the cloud

MailerLite, a fast-growing email‑marketing platform and subsidiary of The Remote Company, was straining under an aging infrastructure as it generated over 100 million NFS files (under 10 TB) from millions of daily emails, landing pages and assets. Performance, security, and scalability were difficult to maintain, and traditional migration tools (e.g., rsync) proved too slow and unreliable, so the team needed a rapid move to a cloud hyperscaler within a 60‑day window.

They migrated to Google Cloud using NetApp Cloud Volumes Service and the XCP data mover to copy and verify the entire file tree; the baseline transfer and accelerated incremental syncs completed in two days, with the final cutover requiring about one hour. The result was fast, scalable, and secure file services with easier provisioning, reduced operational overhead, regular NetApp Snapshot backups, saved developer hours, and plans to migrate additional assets and adopt NetApp Astra for Kubernetes.
