Larsen & Toubro (L&T), a Mumbai‑headquartered engineering and construction conglomerate with about 84,000 employees, needed to eliminate downtime for business‑critical applications (SAP, Oracle, SharePoint and line‑of‑business systems) and speed up infrastructure delivery so business units could respond faster to customer needs. Scheduled maintenance and upgrades previously required hours of downtime, and provisioning new environments could take days or weeks.

L&T virtualized existing SANs with NetApp V‑Series controllers running clustered Data ONTAP, using QoS policies and SnapMirror replication to build a private cloud available to all business units. The solution eliminated application downtime, improved productivity, cut provisioning times from days/weeks to hours, provided predictable performance, and scales nondisruptively to meet growing demand.
