A NetApp Case Study
King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital (KKESH) is a leading tertiary ophthalmic center in Saudi Arabia with over 1,200 staff and a fully digitized clinical environment. Facing rapidly growing medical imaging data, rising user expectations, and new workloads such as VDI, the hospital needed higher scalability, stronger 24/7 availability, and faster, more reliable recovery than its existing storage could provide.
KKESH implemented two NetApp FAS systems in a MetroCluster configuration (synchronously mirroring data across two data centers over 40Gb fiber) and adopted NetApp Snapshot, Flash Cache, and deduplication. The solution delivered continuous 24/7 access, faster restores, simplified management and upgrades, about 25% reduced data through deduplication, and smooth operations—creating the scalable foundation for VDI, VoIP, a medical library and other new IT projects.
