A NetApp Case Study
INPS (In Practice Systems) is a London-based software and hosting company that provides the Vision platform to GP practices and the NHS. Faced with growing competition and I/O‑intensive workloads where rapid access to patient records is critical, INPS needed a robust, easy-to-manage storage solution to reduce latency to sub‑5ms, speed data ingestion and backups, and lower operational costs.
INPS replaced its legacy storage with a NetApp flash-based, modular platform (FAS8060, AFF8020, FAS2554 with Flash Pool and SnapVault), delivering lightning-fast performance and near‑instant access for mostly read-heavy workloads. Nightly backups dropped from hours to minutes via snapshots and semi‑synchronous replication, disaster protection improved, operational costs fell (savings passed to customers), and the company strengthened its position with the NHS while gaining flexibility to pursue cloud backup options.
