A NetApp Case Study
ING DIRECT Australia, a pioneering branchless bank with more than 1.5 million customers and an in-house IT team, faced long development lead times because provisioning full test copies of its complex banking environment (including 5.5 TB of data) took eight people up to three months. With a growing project backlog and a lean delivery model, the bank needed a way to rapidly create complete, production-like environments on demand to accelerate innovation and time to market.
ING DIRECT implemented a “Bank in a Box” solution built with NetApp, Cisco, Microsoft and Dimension Data—combining NetApp FlexPod, Snapshot, FlexClone and deduplication with Microsoft Visual Studio/TFS, Virtual Lab Management and System Center orchestration. The integrated, self-service platform cut provisioning from about 12 weeks to 10 minutes, enabled many concurrent copies, boosted developer productivity, accelerated delivery of new products and established a cloud-enabled operating model.
