Case Study: Hughes Network Systems cuts provisioning from weeks to hours with NetApp

A NetApp Case Study

Hughes Network Systems Drives Automation, Innovation with NetApp and Ansible

Hughes Network Systems, the global leader in satellite broadband and the company behind HughesNet, faced a scaling challenge as it expanded into new markets with region-specific requirements. Its development environment more than tripled, and building full-featured testbeds was taking weeks, creating a bottleneck that made smaller, more frequent releases unsustainable.

Hughes adopted Red Hat Ansible along with NetApp modules for Ansible to automate storage provisioning and test-environment deployment, allowing developers to self-provision “mini clouds” with a click. The result: provisioning that once took weeks now completes in hours, deployment cycles are dramatically shorter, NetApp AFF delivers nonstop availability for full production datasets, and the company is progressing to containers with NetApp Trident to further accelerate development.
