Case Study: CoreLogic RP Data achieves 70% faster SQL Server report processing with NetApp EF-Series flash arrays

Preview of the CoreLogic RP Data Case Study

How RP Data Reduced Microsoft SQL Server-Based Report Processing Times by 70% with NetApp EF-Series Flash Arrays

RP Data, part of CoreLogic, is the leading supplier of real estate valuation data and analytics in Australia and New Zealand, managing vast, fast-growing datasets (500M+ decision points across 9M properties, 100+ data feeds and hundreds of terabytes yearly). As its Microsoft SQL Server–based property database expanded, storage I/O became a bottleneck, slowing ETL and report turnaround times and limiting the frequency of customer reports.

RP Data implemented NetApp’s EF-Series all‑flash arrays (EF540) with SANtricity management after a successful proof of concept, moving ETL and valuation workloads to flash storage and standardizing on NetApp across the environment. The change delivered submillisecond latency and extreme IOPS, reduced database transfer times and report processing by about 70% (50 minutes vs. 3 hours; 3.5 hours vs. 12.5 hours), achieved >100,000 IOPS and 1.2M records/sec in real use, and improved storage availability to 99.9999%, enabling more frequent, timely customer reports.
