HANSA‑FLEX AG, a global hydraulics specialist, partnered with Arvato Systems and NetApp/Microsoft to modernize its SAP landscape in 2019. The challenge was urgent and complex: migrate 20 SAP systems — including a 10 TB IBM Db2 database holding 80,000 material master records across 450+ locations — to SAP HANA in the cloud, handling two different database environments and completing planning and migration within a three‑month target (a six‑week migration window).

The team used Azure NetApp Files to run performance‑intensive, latency‑sensitive SAP HANA workloads, transforming, reorganizing and compressing data during the move. As Germany’s first purely SAP rollout on Azure NetApp Files, the project achieved a record‑fast cloud migration; the migrated database footprint was reduced to one‑third of its original size and the solution delivered the flexibility and performance required for production operations.
