Preview of the ZTM Case Study

Greater Poznań Simplifies Life for Half a Million Public Transport Users a Day

The Urban Transport Authority (ZTM) of Poznań, which serves roughly 500,000 public-transport users daily, needed a single, scalable payment and service platform centered on the PEKA card. ZTM’s goals were to simplify ticketing and additional services, improve service quality, ensure 24/7 availability, and meet GDPR requirements—challenges the existing infrastructure and test environment could not support.

ZTM implemented NetApp ONTAP and MetroCluster to build an active‑active, cross‑replicated data center delivering continuous availability and zero data loss, with flexible interfaces for easy expansion. The solution now supports 6,000 devices (including 4,000 vehicle card readers), 50 virtual servers, 10 integrated systems and 700+ connected vehicles, enables five apps on a single PEKA card, and boosted service quality by 70%, simplifying travel for hundreds of thousands of commuters.
