A NetApp Case Study
ProSiebenSat.1, one of Germany’s largest broadcasters reaching 45 million TV households and generating over 1 billion monthly video views, faced sprawling, siloed storage and a legacy tape archive that was running out of space. The company needed a unified, scalable platform to manage 12 PB of media (growing about 100 TB per month), support broadcast and digital workflows, and avoid constant physical expansion of its data center.
Working with NetApp, ProSiebenSat.1 migrated its archive to a private cloud built on StorageGRID, SolidFire and NetApp Trident, consolidating media, backups and development assets into a resilient, replicated content platform. The result: a common S3-compatible repository for all workflows, faster application development on Kubernetes, improved business continuity with native replication, and a future-proof infrastructure that handles rapid growth and the move to UHD while streamlining content production and distribution.
