A NetApp Case Study
Framestore is a world‑renowned VFX studio that creates films, advertising, and immersive experiences, with a growing pipeline of data‑intensive finishing and VR projects across five global sites. Its integrated advertising team needed faster, more reliable access to large datasets and the ability to support multiple high‑performance workflows (like stereoscopic 4K and VR) so it could bid on and deliver larger, more complex jobs.
Framestore partnered with Pixit Media and NetApp to deploy PixStor software‑defined storage on NetApp E‑Series (E5660), consolidating VFX, finishing, and rendering onto a single, modular platform. The solution supported 4K/60‑fps production and ran peaks of ~270K IOPS, handled 20TB of source material that expanded to 70TB decompressed, enabled two‑hour remote backups, reduced time and costs, and gave Framestore the performance and resilience to take on bigger projects with confidence.
