Evergreen Films Employs a NetApp Solution for Real-Time 3D Playback While Reducing Costs by 70%

Evergreen Films, an award-winning production studio with offices in Culver City and Anchorage, faced exploding storage and bandwidth demands as it moved to HD/2K/4K stereoscopic 3D workflows. Their legacy system couldn’t sustain real-time playback—causing dropped frames, playback lag and rising costs—so the studio needed higher throughput, reliability, and scalable capacity.

Working with IMT, Evergreen deployed a tiered NetApp solution (E5424/E5460 E‑Series arrays, a FAS2240 flight-case system, and Quantum StorNext) to deliver extreme bandwidth and modular scaling. The upgrade enabled smooth real-time 4K/3D playback, scalable petabyte growth, and delivered about 70% cost savings while providing 88% more usable storage in 75% of the rack space.
