Engage Simplifies and Streamlines the Backup of Healthcare Records in the Cloud

Engage, the technology division of nonprofit Inland Northwest Health Services (INHS), supports nearly 40 hospitals and clinics facing rapid growth in patient data and strict retention and security regulations. Tape backups had become time‑consuming and costly, and purpose‑built backup appliances were expensive and inflexible, so Engage needed a more efficient, scalable, and secure backup approach.

Engage deployed NetApp AltaVault (physical and virtual) integrated with BridgeHead and their Engage HealthCloud ObjectStore to provide encrypted, deduplicated off‑site backups with fast, automated management and simple restores. The solution rolled out in hours, condensed backups by more than 50% (for example, typical MEDITECH backups shrank from ~100TB to ~37TB), and delivered savings ranging from tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars while improving compliance and freeing IT teams to focus on patient care.
