The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) is a semi‑government utility serving over 500,000 customers with about 2,000 employees. Under pressure to improve IT agility while absorbing a 30% IT budget cut, EAC struggled with slow SAP/Oracle performance, rapidly growing geodata, cumbersome administration of legacy storage and hundreds of file servers, and long backup windows.

Partnering with Logicom, EAC consolidated its data center onto FlexPod (Cisco UCS/Nexus + NetApp clustered Data ONTAP + VMware) with two replicated sites and full virtualization. The implementation cut TCO by 40%, reduced backups from 40 hours to 45 minutes, dramatically shortened SAP reporting times, consolidated 200+ file servers, strengthened disaster recovery and scalability for GIS, and prepared EAC to compete in a deregulated market.
