Case Study: Ducati achieves faster innovation and race-winning performance with NetApp data fabric

A NetApp Case Study

Preview of the Ducati Case Study

Ducati and NetApp build a data fabric to accelerate innovation, deliver high performance, and win races

Ducati, the iconic Italian motorcycle maker and MotoGP competitor, faced the challenge of competing with high-volume global manufacturers while accelerating innovation from race to road. The company needed to harness massive, fast-moving, and distributed data—from 40 sensors per racing bike to connected consumer bikes—to improve performance, speed product development, modernize IT, and strengthen disaster recovery and security.

NetApp delivered a data fabric built on AFF storage, ONTAP software, high-performance computing and hybrid cloud services, enabling on‑track telemetry processing, consolidation of more than 200 applications, and connected‑bike analytics. The solution cut prototype development time by 30%, reduced data‑center power and cooling costs by 70%, shrank infrastructure footprints (HPC 20x, overall data center 7x) with data optimization up to 27:1, supported 90 VMs in DR, and scaled analytics across thousands of bikes—accelerating innovation, performance, and cost efficiency.
