DIS Again Selects NetApp to Support and Accelerate a Growing Retail and Logistics Business with a Private Cloud

DIS is Serbia’s largest domestic retail and logistics group, operating 15 supermarkets, a wholesale market and over 420 franchises. Rapid expansion drove explosive data growth across POS, ERP and BI systems, creating urgent needs for higher performance, scalability, simplified testing and stronger data protection/business continuity.

DIS upgraded to a NetApp FAS3220 primary system (FAS3140 as backup) with Fujitsu BX900 servers to build a private cloud on Microsoft Hyper-V, using flash caching, deduplication and Snapshot copies. The upgrade delivered dramatically faster access (tripled overall performance and up to 20× faster writes), cut process times from minutes to seconds, simplified database testing and sped time to production, improved BI and forecasting, saved about $72,000 in disk costs and ~14% capacity via dedupe, and positioned the company for continued growth and continuity.
