Case Study: Dentsu achieves cloud-native transformation and faster time-to-market with NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP

A NetApp Case Study

Preview of the Dentsu Case Study

Dentsu - Customer Case Study

Dentsu, the global marketing services group operating across 145 countries, adopted a cloud-first strategy to speed campaign launches and innovation by moving all storage to the cloud within two years. The program faced major hurdles: educating roughly 3,000 application and service owners about cloud benefits, migrating an aging hardware estate spread across four global data centres, and curbing shadow IT while keeping services running.

Working with NetApp and public cloud providers, dentsu built preconfigured landing zones on Azure, AWS and Google Cloud and used NetApp solutions (Cloud Volumes ONTAP, AFF, SnapVault) plus SaaS/PaaS/IaaS migrations and professional services to execute the cutover. By early 2020 they closed the four data centres, avoided a costly hardware refresh, improved agility and user experience, and achieved efficiency gains—saving 416 kVA of power (2,577 metric tons CO2) and lowering storage and cloud costs through deduplication, compression and optimized backup.
