Copa Airlines Counts on NetApp Technology for World-Class on-Time Performance

Copa Airlines, which carries nearly 16 million passengers a year, was facing significant performance problems with its baggage reconciliation system and needed a robust data fabric to manage changing baggage-transport data and improve operational reliability and punctuality.

Working with NetApp and partner Web Devices, Copa rearchitected its BRS and data platform using ONTAP (All Flash FAS, AFF, ONTAP Select), Cloud Volumes ONTAP, SnapMirror and FlexClone, and migrated key warehouses and 19 SQL databases to AWS. Within a year the airline eliminated read‑write latency in the BRS, cut baggage delays by 75%, improved analytics and reporting, reduced IT administration and costs, and supported its industry‑leading 89.79% on‑time performance.
