A NetApp Case Study
Phoenix Insurance Company, one of Israel’s largest insurers, needed to expand its central storage and build a disaster-recovery site to support tens of thousands of transactions per second while meeting regulatory, security, and survivability requirements and reducing hardware and maintenance costs. The company required rapid recovery (48 hours), flexible development/testing capacity, and much greater storage efficiency to keep pace with growth and competition.
After a successful pilot, Phoenix implemented a NetApp-based central storage and DRP solution that enabled full replication to the DR site and advanced data services like deduplication and faster backups/restores. The deployment delivered dramatic efficiency gains (up to 500% in some environments), supported high transaction volumes, reduced time and cost, improved business continuity, and even enabled new cloud-based IoT services such as the “Young Phoenix” usage-based car insurance program.
