A NetApp Case Study
Be The Match is a nonprofit that matches patients with life‑saving bone marrow donors from a registry of 9 million U.S. and 39 million global potential donors. Because successful transplants depend on finding precise genetic matches, the organization is critically dependent on fast, reliable IT to scale matching efforts (its 2022 North America goal was 7,000 matches) and to improve VMware performance, development speed, and disaster recovery.
By modernizing storage with NetApp A-Series AFF A700, ONTAP, SnapCenter and ONTAP Select (supported by FAS systems), Be The Match cut complexity, sped provisioning, and offloaded VM CPU to storage. The results: SQL instances can be provisioned in about an hour instead of days, recovery windows are under 15 minutes, development cycles are faster, and overall database and application performance has increased—helping the organization expand matching capacity and deliver care more quickly.
