Baylor College of Medicine, a top-ranked medical research institution, faced slow, cumbersome IT provisioning that forced researchers to use shadow IT and delayed experiments and grant timelines. The college needed a compliant, cost‑transparent, on‑demand self‑service infrastructure so faculty and students could focus on research instead of managing servers.
Baylor built a private “Discovery Cloud” on a FlexPod platform with VMware, Presidio and CliQr CloudCenter, delivering an easy service catalog for automated provisioning and accurate cost estimates. The cloud lets researchers start experiments in minutes, speeds grant funding cycles, improves resource visibility, aids faculty recruitment, and will save about $1.5 million by migrating SAP and EpicCare—while enabling future collaboration with affiliate institutions.
