BankIslami Pakistan Builds Private Cloud on FlexPod to Gain Future Readiness and Save Operational Costs

BankIslami Pakistan, the country’s second-largest Islamic bank with more than 200 branches, faced mounting IT strain as it centralized thin-client environments and sought to virtualize and consolidate servers to manage rapid growth. The bank needed more powerful compute and storage without exhausting datacenter rack space, cabling, management overhead or power capacity.

BankIslami deployed a FlexPod private cloud (NetApp + Cisco) with VMware and Oracle VDI, implemented by partner Innovative Integration, migrating about 150 branches and establishing a remote DR site with SnapMirror replication. The rollout cut production and DR operational costs by ~50%, eliminated more than 20 blade servers for reuse, reduced power costs (expected savings around $70K/year), enabled rapid branch rollouts in minutes, and delivered greater agility and future readiness.
