Autonet Insurance, the UK’s largest independent van insurance broker with more than £130M turnover and over 1.2 million calls handled annually, faced worsening disk I/O bottlenecks as its virtualised environment grew. SQL Server performance and website responsiveness suffered—pages were taking up to 15 seconds to load—impacting online sales and call-centre CRM responsiveness and limiting the business’s ability to scale.

Autonet implemented a NetApp all‑flash AFF8060 and clustered Data ONTAP 8.3.1 (alongside its existing FAS3220 infrastructure), eliminating the I/O bottleneck and boosting IOPS tenfold (from ~10k to ~100k). The upgrade cut page load times to under 3 seconds, delivered a three-point uplift in online purchases, improved call‑centre app performance, enabled nondisruptive management, and provided strong value for money.
