A NetApp Case Study
Airtel Payments Bank, launched by Bharti Airtel to bring mobile banking to underserved Indians, faced the challenge of handling massive volumes of customer, call, and transaction data while delivering fast, reliable services across urban and rural areas. The bank anticipated up to 265 million potential users and built for about 7 PB of data (roughly 300 TB production and 250 TB backup), creating a need for high-performance, scalable storage.
Airtel Payments Bank deployed a NetApp all‑flash storage and backup infrastructure—AFF A300 for production and AFF8040 for backup—within a 7 PB environment. The result is a simplified, high-performance storage platform that lets the bank manage huge data volumes, support millions of mobile customers, and scale its services into the future.
