A NETSCOUT Case Study
ZTV, a regional cable-TV, Internet and telephone provider serving 36 municipalities in Mie, Shiga and Wakayama prefectures, was upgrading its network to FTTH and expanding data-center and private-line services. Increasing competition and a rise in DDoS attacks overloaded its existing NetFlow collector with many small packets, making accurate traffic monitoring difficult and threatening network stability and customer satisfaction.
ZTV deployed NETSCOUT Arbor Sightline and Arbor Sightline with Insight to gain faster visualization, real-time DDoS detection, long-term flow storage and deep multi-level filtering. The solution improved dashboard usability and response times, enabled detailed analysis of small-packet attacks, and cut transit costs by using AS-level peering analysis to select optimal routes—resulting in more stable operations and better customer service.
