Western European Organization Realizes DDoS Attack Complexity Dictates Hybrid Protection

A Western European network consulting and hosting firm supporting insurance, government and financial customers faced new regulatory pressure as it rapidly grew. Although one of its two datacenters used an always‑on cloud DDoS service, the team was still seeing application‑layer and encrypted attacks that evaded that protection, prompting a reassessment of their DDoS strategy.

NETSCOUT used Omnis Threat Horizon to show executives the specific attacks bypassing cloud defenses and recommended a hybrid model: on‑premises Arbor Edge Defense appliances to stop the nuanced attacks and Arbor Cloud to absorb volumetric floods. The customer bought two AEDs (with plans to add Arbor Cloud and Cyber Investigator), and after tuning the appliances they eliminated the nuisance outages and met their new protection goals.
