A NETSCOUT Case Study
A large U.S. medical center managing more than 1,000 beds, 1+ million annual patient visits, and a 20,000-employee Epic deployment faced critical visibility gaps across its Epic EHR, Nuance PowerScribe radiology reporting, and VPN/VDI environments. Intermittent outages, unclear UC and app-server dependencies, and overlapping IT tools made root-cause analysis slow and increased mean-time-to-remediation, prompting IT leadership to seek a consolidated service-assurance solution.
The center deployed NETSCOUT’s nGeniusONE platform with InfiniStreamNG and vSTREAM appliances plus nGenius Visibility as a Service (nVaaS), gaining passive, real-time “smart” visibility into Epic, PowerScribe, UC&C, and VMware environments. The result: faster root-cause identification (e.g., isolating PowerScribe failures to an app-to-database issue), significantly reduced MTTR, consolidated tools and vendor contracts, and measurable improvements in staff efficiency and patient service continuity.
