Case Study: US Airways achieves faster, more reliable online reservations with NETSCOUT

A NETSCOUT Case Study

Preview of the US Airways Case Study

US Airways Uses NetScout Solutions to Optimize and Ensure the Performance of its Online Reservation System

US Airways, the fifth-largest U.S. carrier after its merger with America West, operates thousands of daily flights and depends on its corporate web sites for reservations and $7M+ in daily transactions. The airline needed tighter control and a deeper, application-level understanding of the networks supporting its online reservation and information services because existing SNMP-based tools only provided high-level metrics and couldn’t quickly pinpoint the root causes of slowdowns or dropped connections.

US Airways deployed NetScout’s nGeniusONE platform with probes across its DMZ, internal infrastructure and major facilities to capture transaction- and application-level visibility, share workspaces across teams, and create custom analytics/filters for security and misuse. The deployment delivered faster root-cause isolation (including blocking a third-party screener within 15 minutes), fewer dropped connections and site slowdowns, improved capacity planning and cross-team reporting, rapid ROI, and an expanded rollout to other critical sites.
