A NETSCOUT Case Study
A government-operated toll road authority that manages a regional roadway used by millions moved from manual booths to a transponder- and sticker-based automated tolling system, and faced growing visibility and monitoring challenges. Complex, dispersed services — including web-based transactions, card processing, and high-volume video/photo capture for license-plate verification — plus an upgrade to 40G data center networks made it difficult for IT to pinpoint application or video performance issues that could disrupt collections and traffic flow.
The authority expanded its NETSCOUT deployment with the nGeniusONE Service Assurance platform, InfiniStreamNG appliances, and a nGenius 5100 packet flow switch for 40G visibility, adding real-time UC analytics, dashboards, and contextual transaction workflows. This delivered granular, real-time monitoring of video and application traffic, improved detection and resolution of performance slowdowns, reduced revenue risk from missed captures, and produced a smoother travel experience and stronger public perception of the toll authority.
